IV. 1. Medical Insurance for Overseas Chinese and Foreign Students (Insurance Before Joining NHI)
Overseas Chinese students (including students from Hong Kong and Macau) and international students who have not yet qualified for the National Health Insurance (NHI) before staying in Taiwan for 6 months, will be insured under Cathay Life Insurance's medical insurance provided by the school.
If you visit a hospital or clinic due to illness or injury, you must first pay for the registration and medical fees. After seeing the doctor, you can apply for reimbursement by submitting the following documents to the International Student Section at the International Affairs Office:
Original or photocopy of the payment receipt (the photocopy must be stamped by the hospital)
Original diagnosis certificate (must be requested from the doctor; the cost of the diagnosis certificate is also eligible for reimbursement, and the certificate must be stamped by the hospital)
Photocopy of the bank passbook or postal savings book used in Taiwan

NHI Fee: NTD 826/month. The tuition for each semester includes 6 months of NHI fees.

Subsidy for Domestic Graduate Students by the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) to Attend International Academic Conferences
I. Who can apply : 1. Full-time graduate students with YunTech academic status(excluding In-Service education program student) 2. The paper applied for funding is accomplished and will be published with the credit to the University (YunTech), and have been completed in the school but have not yet been published.
II. Deadline for Application: No later than the first day of the previous month of the conference holding month (YunTech deadline is before 12:00 noon) (For example, if the conference will open on August 15, 2021, the application should be submitted before 12:00 July 1, 2021 by YunTech students). Application will not be accepted after the deadline. (After the postgraduate student submits it online, it must be submitted online by OIA. Please be sure to submit it before the YunTech deadline.)
III. About the Grant: 1. Grant Item(grantees have to pay by themselves in advance) (1) Round-trip airfare: An economy class round-trip ticket for the most direct route between Taiwan and the location of the conference, and the airlines restricted to those operated by Taiwan-registered companies. (2) Conference Registration Fee (3) For severely disabled grantees who need to be accompanied by an accompanying caregiver to attend the international academic conference, a round-trip economy class air ticket for the accompanying caregiver may be subsidized with the approval of the NSTC. 2. Expenses incurred for attending international conference, but not covered by the subsidies listed above, shall not be reimbursed under any research projects funding of the NSTC. 3. This subsidy is for the exclusive use of funds, and no other person may attend the international conference, change participation in other conferences, or transfer to other purposes.
IV. How to Apply: 1. Graduate students should first log in to the "Academic Research Service Portal" of the NSTC website with their personal account to make the required documents online and send them to the applicant institution. The students should notify YunTech OIA of their application for the subsidy, then OIA will collect and compile the application materials and submit online to the NSTC. 2. Required Documents: (1) The application form (2) The official document indicating that a paper has been accepted for presentation at a conference (3) The abstract of the paper to be presented (4) The faculty adviser’s letter of recommendation (the student’s foreign language proficiency must be indicated). V. Procedure for subsidized cases modification: 1. Subsidy cases shall not be arbitrarily changed without being submitted by the grantee and the applicant institution and approved by NSTC. 2. Grantees shall apply for changes online at the "Academic Research Service Portal" of the NSTC website and submit the relevant information. The students should notify YunTech OIA of their application for the changes, then after reviewing, the application shall be sent online to the NSTC. The modification will be completed after NSTC permits the modification. Notice! all changes shall be applied before the conference, except for the cancellation applications. 3. When the granted case is approved for cancellation by NSTC, the same graduate student can apply for attending other international academic conferences in the same year.
VI. Deadline for Reimbursement: Within 15 days after the conclusion of the conference, the grantee must submit a report on the attendance of the international academic conference through the online system ("Academic Research Service Portal" of the NSTC website), register the funds for reimbursement, and inform YunTech OIA to submit online and also official document to the NSTC. Notice! The reimbursement must be accomplished before the accounting closing date in December.

I. Units applying for subsidies that meet the regulation should first apply to the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology or other off-campus agencies for funding subsidies; The funding from YunTech is based on the principle of subsidizing part of the funds. If the applying unit is fully subsidized by other agencies, YunTech will not provide subsidies.
II. Apply Deadline: Applicants should send the application form together with the proposal to the OIA and the Chief Accounting Office for approval at least 15 days before the date of the academic conferences, and then submit it to the principal for approval.
III. About the Proposal: It should include the purpose of the conference, agenda, topic outline, budget, the academic experience of the invited lecturer and the publication of the latest five years, the number of scheduled participants, work organization and task division, and expected results.
IV. About the Grant: This fund can be used for lecture fees, printing fees, transportation expenses, board and lodging expenses, and others (for example: stationery, post and telecommunications, venue layout, related consumables, etc.). --The transportation subsidy is limited to serving as a lecturer, introduction, host, and commentator. Notice! This fund cannot be used as work-study funds. Personnel in YunTech are not allowed to receive examination fees, attendance fees, hosting fees, and introduction fees.
V. About Reimbursement: 1. II. Deadline for Application: No later than six weeks before the date of the international academic conference. (YunTech deadline is before 12:00 noon) (After the applicant submits it online, it must be submitted online by OIA. Please be sure to submit it before the YunTech deadline.)
III. About the Grant Item: (grantees have to pay by themselves in advance) 1. Round-trip airfare: An economy class round-trip ticket for the most direct route between Taiwan and the location of the conference, and the airlines restricted to those operated by Taiwan-registered companies. 2. Living expenses during the period of going abroad 3. Conference Registration Fee 4. Handling fee (including passport fee, visa fee, yellow paper fee, vaccination fee, foreign exchange settlement fee and airport service fee) 5. Insurance premium (the insured amount of people traveling abroad on business is up to NT$4 million) 6. For severely disabled grantees (with certified document) who need to be accompanied by an accompanying caregiver to attend the international academic conference, the travel expenses for the accompanying caregiver may be subsidized with the approval of the NSTC. --The application and settlement of its travel expenses shall be handled together with the application for attending the international conference
IV. How to Apply: 1. Applicants need to log on to the "Academic Research Service Portal" of the NSTC website with their personal account to make the required documents online and send them to the applicant institution. The applicants should notify YunTech OIA of their application for the subsidy, then OIA will collect and compile the application materials and submit online to the NSTC. 2. I. Who can apply : 1. Full-time graduate students with YunTech academic status(excluding In-Service education program student) 2. The paper applied for funding is accomplished and will be published with the credit to the University (YunTech), and have been completed in the school but have not yet been published.
II. Deadline for Application: No later than the first day of the previous month of the conference holding month (YunTech deadline is before 12:00 noon) (For example, if the conference will open on August 15, 2021, the application should be submitted before 12:00 July 1, 2021 by YunTech students). Application will not be accepted after the deadline. (After the postgraduate student submits it online, it must be submitted online by OIA. Please be sure to submit it before the YunTech deadline.)
III. About the Grant: 1. I. Units applying for subsidies that meet the regulation should first apply to the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Science and Technology or other off-campus agencies for funding subsidies; The funding from YunTech is based on the principle of subsidizing part of the funds. If the applying unit is fully subsidized by other agencies, YunTech will not provide subsidies.
II. Apply Deadline: Applicants should send the application form together with the proposal to the OIA and the Chief Accounting Office for approval at least 15 days before the date of the academic conferences, and then submit it to the principal for approval.
III. About the Proposal: It should include the purpose of the conference, agenda, topic outline, budget, the academic experience of the invited lecturer and the publication of the latest five years, the number of scheduled participants, work organization and task division, and expected results.
IV. About the Grant: This fund can be used for lecture fees, printing fees, transportation expenses, board and lodging expenses, and others (for example: stationery, post and telecommunications, venue layout, related consumables, etc.). --The transportation subsidy is limited to serving as a lecturer, introduction, host, and commentator. Notice! This fund cannot be used as work-study funds. Personnel in YunTech are not allowed to receive examination fees, attendance fees, hosting fees, and introduction fees.
V. About Reimbursement: 1. No higher than the approved amount of subsidy, grantees have to prepare related receipts in order, and handle the reimbursement application in accordance with YunTech's funding verification regulations. Notice! The reimbursement must be accomplished before the accounting closing date in December. 2. Within 1 month after holding the academic conference, the grantee has to submit documents to YunTech OIA, including a report on the academic conference, a list of attendees (with units and title), and proceedings (written or electronic files in Chinese and English).

Subsidy for Domestic Scholars and Experts to Attend International Academic Conferences (from National Science and Technology Council)
I. Who can apply : 1. Current teaching or research staff in YunTech 2. Post-doctoral research fellows participating in NSTC research projects.
II. Deadline for Application: No later than six weeks before the date of the international academic conference. (YunTech deadline is before 12:00 noon) (After the applicant submits it online, it must be submitted online by OIA. Please be sure to submit it before the YunTech deadline.)
III. About the Grant Item: (grantees have to pay by themselves in advance) 1. Round-trip airfare: An economy class round-trip ticket for the most direct route between Taiwan and the location of the conference, and the airlines restricted to those operated by Taiwan-registered companies. 2. Living expenses during the period of going abroad 3. Conference Registration Fee 4. Handling fee (including passport fee, visa fee, yellow paper fee, vaccination fee, foreign exchange settlement fee and airport service fee) 5. Insurance premium (the insured amount of people traveling abroad on business is up to NT$4 million) 6. For severely disabled grantees (with certified document) who need to be accompanied by an accompanying caregiver to attend the international academic conference, the travel expenses for the accompanying caregiver may be subsidized with the approval of the NSTC. --The application and settlement of its travel expenses shall be handled together with the application for attending the international conference
IV. How to Apply: 1. Applicants need to log on to the "Academic Research Service Portal" of the NSTC website with their personal account to make the required documents online and send them to the applicant institution. The applicants should notify YunTech OIA of their application for the subsidy, then OIA will collect and compile the application materials and submit online to the NSTC. 2. Required Documents: (1) The application form (2) Acceptance letter. If the acceptance letter cannot be provided along with the application, applicants shall indicate the acceptance letter will be submitted and shall be sent to the NSTC no later than 3 weeks prior to the date of the conference. (3) Abstract for conference paper (papers are limited to which have not been published in journals or other international conferences). (4) Other documents useful for review(such as the full text of the paper).
V. Procedure for subsidized cases modification: 1. Subsidy cases shall not be arbitrarily changed without being submitted by the grantee and the applicant institution and approved by NSTV. 2. Grantees shall apply for changes online at the "Academic Research Service Portal" of the NSTC website and submit the relevant information. The grantees should notify YunTech OIA of their application for the changes, then after reviewing, the application shall be sent online to the NSTC. The modification will be completed after NSTC permits the modification. Notice! all changes shall be applied before the conference, except for the cancellation applications. *If the items are not changeable on the system, grantees have to prepare related documents for YunTech OIA to submit online and also official document to the NSTC for change*
VI. Deadline for Reimbursement: Within 1 month after the conclusion of the conference, the grantee shall submit a report on the attendance of the international academic conference through the online system ("Academic Research Service Portal" of the NSTC website), register the funds for reimbursement, and inform YunTech OIA to submit online and also official document to the NSTC. Notice! The reimbursement must be accomplished before the accounting closing date in December.
VII. Required Documents for Reimbursement: 1. No higher than the approved amount of subsidy, grantees have to prepare the required documents in order, and handle the reimbursement application in accordance with YunTech's funding verification regulations. 1. The same attendee who has received a grant from another government agency to attend an international academic conference shall not apply for the grant again to NSTC. If the paper is co-authored, the grant shall be limited to one person per paper. 2. The attendees may only receive one grant in the same fiscal year. If the principal investigator among the attendees has been granted a S&T research project and approved to receive the subsidy for attending an international academic conference, the principal investigator will not be granted again. 3. When the attendees attend an international academic conference in mainland China, the conference shall be hosted by an international academic organization, or shall be hosted by an international academic organization and co-hosted by a relevant organization in mainland China. Only if the above conditions are met, the application institution is eligible to apply for the subsidies from NSTC in accordance with the above regulations. 4. I. Funding of Scientific and Technological Personnel for Short-term Research Overseas (Within 3 to 12 months, please refer to the website of the NSTC for relevant regulations) Attention: After the teachers have been approved by the NSTC for subsidies, they must complete the relevant procedures for teachers to go abroad in accordance with the regulations of the YunTech Personnel Office (including the review and approval of the teaching evaluation committee)
II. Subsidies to Invite International Science Scholars and Experts to Taiwan for Short-term Projects (The principle is within 7 days. Due to special needs, up to one month. Please refer to the website of the NSTC for relevant regulations.)
VI.Bilateral Agreement NSTC Add- on Grant for International Cooperation 1.Since May 2018, the NSTC subsidies for international cooperation research projects under bilateral agreements have been changed to the ways of "add-on". 2. Qualifications of principal investigators from Taiwan: Only principal investigators currently implementing NSTC-funded research-category projects are eligible. The projects referred to in the preceding do not include the planning of promotion projects, international cooperation projects under bilateral agreements, or industrial-academia cooperation projects. These projects should be relevant to the research topics of the proposed international cooperation projects. 3.
