1. Medical Insurance for Overseas Chinese and Foreign Students (Insurance Before Joining NHI)

1. Overseas Chinese students (including students from Hong Kong and Macau) and international students who have not yet qualified for the National Health Insurance (NHI) before staying in Taiwan for 6 months, will be insured under Cathay Life Insurance's medical insurance provided by the school.
   
   

2. If you visit a hospital or clinic due to illness or injury, you must first pay for the registration and medical fees. After seeing the doctor, you can apply for reimbursement by submitting the following documents to the International Student Section at the International Affairs Office:

   • Original or photocopy of the payment receipt (the photocopy must be stamped by the hospital)
     
     

   • Original diagnosis certificate (must be requested from the doctor; the cost of the diagnosis certificate is also eligible for
     reimbursement, and the certificate must be stamped by the hospital)
     
     

   • Photocopy of the bank passbook or postal savings book used in Taiwan
     
     

   • Photocopy of the student ID
     
     

   • Photocopy of the ARC (Alien Resident Certificate)
     
     

   • Photocopy of the passport
     
     

   • Once all the documents are collected, the school will submit them to the insurance company for reimbursement. After the insurance company reviews the claim, the reimbursement amount will be directly transferred to the student’s bank account.
     
     

3. Reimbursement Limit:

   • The maximum reimbursement per day per department is NTD 1,000.
     
     

4. Medical Insurance Fee for International Students: NTD 500/month (The first semester’s tuition includes 6 months of medical insurance fees).
   
   
   

2. National Health Insurance (NHI)

The National Health Insurance (NHI) is a mandatory social insurance. All citizens of Taiwan and foreign residents with a valid ARC are required by law to join NHI.

1. You will be automatically enrolled in NHI after staying in Taiwan for 6 months from the date of ARC issuance. (If you have been living in Taiwan continuously for 6 months or have exited Taiwan for no more than 30 days, the actual stay period will be calculated excluding the exit days.)
   
   

2. NHI Fee: NTD 826/month. The tuition for each semester includes 6 months of NHI fees.
